If you don't kind taking some time scrounging for expensive bits like a 3ph motor and maybe a VFD, and if you have some fabrication skills, you'll end up with a MUCH better grinder. I've seen the KBAC-24D VFDs priced around $255, and you can likely find a used 1HP 3ph AC motor for less than $100 if you look hard enough.

Take a look at an older Craftsman table saw, the motor works as the belt tensioner & there's no adjustment for the belt. On mine, the motor is simply mounted to the 1/4" base plate & won't move.

They should to be sized for the maximum motor amperage and the operating voltage of the motor. Be careful and look up the specifications as many sold are for higher voltage motors.

And also, that TEFC specification refers to the motor housing: Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled. This means there are no holes for metal dust to enter and short out the motor.
