Model 70s built in the 80s are decent rifles. Now around 1988 or so, Winchester brought back the pre-64 style rifle with the Mauser extractor. These are the best factory rifles made in America today.

I have from 1942 to current (2016) from JOC, Super Grade, Featherweight, High Grade Featherwieight Lightweight, etc. I own one Browning X Bolt and that too is a beauty. My firm conclusion is modern Winchester Model 70s are excellent. Compared to any rifle, anywhere.
